This was the formula the Rams won 7 straight division titles with. The QBs were mostly journeymen who had some ability.

John Hadl, (League Co-MVP in 1973, his first year with the Rams after a great career with the Chargers)
James Harris, (A number one pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1969. Best QB Eddie Robinson had a Grambling before Doug Williams. Tough as nails and a great arm.)
Ron Jaworski (Some consider Jaws a franchise QB, I don't. He was a better then average journeyman)
Pat Haden,
Vince Ferragamo (maybe the guy with the most physical ability next to James Harris and the best deep passer I ever saw)

In 1979 the Rams were devastated by an onslaught of injuries, including the starting QB Pat Haden. Somehow they recovered and made run that took them to Super Bowl 14 vs the Steelers which was a great game. Bob Lee and long time QB with the Atlanta and Minnesota actually came in relief in a game at San Francisco and won that game and it was the spring board to a six game win streak that put the Rams into the playoffs. The key was the injured defense recovered form its injuries and made its presence known in a game at the Seattle Kingdome and they held the Seahawks to minus 7 yards total offense in a 24-0 Rams victory. That Minus 7 yards total offense is unheard of even today 37 years later. But that is when it was evident that the Rams just might be okay with the Defense back to form.

If this team is defense with average offense I'll take that if it gives us 10 to 12 wins.
