I watched several players very closely. Here is what I noticed:
* For some reason I decided to focus on Saffold quite a bit. I was not impressed. He got pushed back often and quite far in pass blocking - did not seem to have the strength to hold up. Run blocking he seemed to be blocking air quite a bit - although to be fair I had no idea of his assignments. While I did not see him giving up sacks, he certainly is not dominating anyone.
* William Hayes had a huge game and we are lucky to have him. He got great pressure at times, and at other times he pulled up on the speed rush in order to keep contain. He was one of the two players i was most impressed with. Really impacted the game a lot.
*The other player that impressed me was Kenny Britt. He had one very Rams-like drop of a ball that hit him right in the mitts, but he made many other catches and the catches were often very difficult. Kept his feet in, made contested catches, drew PI. Britt kept several drives alive by making difficult catches.
*Mixed reaction to Ogletree. He makes tackles well between the hashes but struggles on runs around the ends, at least in this game. Big fumble recovery though.
Anyway, FWIW thats what I saw re-watching a good game, very well played by our defense and better played by our offense (keeping drives alive and holding the ball even if not scoring td's) than I expected.
