Palmer counters this with quick drops and throws, often to Fitzgerald.

The Rams fall right into this by playing soft coverage.

Palmer and Fitz play pitch and catch right up to the Redzone, where it tightens.

Let's see if that changes.

Yes, this.

I wonder if Williams will be smart enough to change up on the "let em convert 3rd down after 3rd down" defense because that's not likely to beat the Cards IMO.

It also REALLY tires out the defense cause the O is not going to be on the field as much as Palmer & co will be if they play the soft coverage "we'll hold em in the Red Zone" game again.

Our O is not gonna outscore Arizone if we let them move the ball down close all day.

I don’t expect to see Williams change the defensive strategy much. Remember, letting them gain yards right up to the RZ where things tighten is exactly what they did in the December 2014 game where they held them to 12 points on four FGs.

The failure in that game was on the offensive end for not scoring more than 6 points.

They do have to get much better in not letting those 3rd and longs convert. But soft coverages have been what Williams has been doing for years now; that’s not going away.
