Yeah, I was reading on Wikepedia how Scully got pissed at NBC for what he felt was getting screwed over. He used to call games with Hank Stram but when Madden started, they were trying to figure out who to pair him with. Scully and Summerall rotated games with him depending on their other commitments and ultimately, they chose Summerall over Scully as the #1 broadcast team and for the Super Bowl.
To me, Madden was always torture on the ears so it's too bad that's what it was all coming down to. Summerall or Scully could have carried any color commentator but as great as Scully is in baseball, I'd probably have to give it to Summerall as the voice of the NFL. I mean, if I had to pick one. Summerall just seems to fit football and Scully seems to fit baseball.
