this is the NFL and it's competitive and they'll do whatever they think gets them into the win column... short of 'destroying Goff' which I see as not very likely simply by playing him.
plans change... kinda funny here... I think Fisher is stubborn, when I say that or others say it you think it's wrong. But on this issue... it's the 'plan' or the highway. - JamesJM
I agree those things exist, but they're only "pressure" if you let them drive your decisions. I don't think there is anything like that going on. I think the sense that all the coaches and players have about how competitive the league is does not lead them to violate their own ideas of when a player is ready...especially a qb.
Plus of course he probably does have the reported extension so it's of course obvious he's acting like someone who can take his time to do it right. There is no external rush to do things the wrong way.
I don't think it's stubborn. I just think that's how YOU see it. I think it;s a patient dedication to a good plan. It has no bearing on the "stubborn" thing either way. So I can't be suddenly deciding it's okay to be stubborn when I don't think this has anything to do with stubbornness. It will only look like stubbornness to someone who desires a different immediate outcome (ie start him now).
And I want to be clear. I don't see anything that indicates they are taking account of external pressure in any way, shape, or form. I think it was the plan all along to sit Goff for game 1 and then dress him for 2. I think that was completely internal.
