worthy notes from Greg Williams
balls that aren't intercepted when they hit you in the hands are their own entity.
they are equal to the dropped balls on offense. and once they happen, they eat away at the dynamics.
nevertheless, the defense forced the 9ers off the field 4 times in the second half with the game still in reach.
it's remains an offensive issue. period.
The defense did adjust in the 2nd half and come up with stops. But they were less effective in the first half.
Williams has to take the approach that the defense ought to have been better (and he's right)...and a good DC doesn't stand there and say "we did okay, it's the offense's fault." In fact he doesn;t even think it.
We know what this offense is. It's a growth project. Keenum is good enough to help the Rams win games, as he has shown, but only if the game is in reach...you can't pile a lead on him and on them, the whole offense, and expect them to pull the game out. But if the defense keeps it close they can win...as we have seen already.
Later on there will be a more experienced line, a more talented qb, and quite possibly enough at TE/WR to expect more out of them. Then Gurley becomes an even bigger factor too.
But as it stands right now, if the defense allows a big lead, the offense is pressing, and when players press on offense you can expect mistakes.
