I'm still not in the "Fisher doesn't know football" camp... or "The game has passed him by" movement. I think Fisher knows today's game... it's not that.
But it's a lot of other stuff. I think he is TERRIBLE at developing players. I think he is so wedded to a narrowly orchestrated football philosophy that he's incapable of adapting in even the most minute ways.
Our first JR. Youth Football game this year we played a team that had two of the biggest DT's I've ever seen, for 11yr olds, in my life.. AND they were good athletes. We ran right at those two players EVERY running play of the game... NOT ONE SINGLE RUN outside the 3 and 4 holes... I'm not exaggerating, NOT ONE... and our RB's are scat backs, brilliant at eluding people and putting on the moves but very small.
When I asked the coach about it, (not in a 'confrontational' manner but simply to satisfy my curiosity), his reply was that "The outside running game wasn't working". Let me reiterate.. NOT ONE SINGLE ATTEMPTED RUN OUTSIDE OUR OT's IN THE ENTIRE GAME.
That's Fisher. That is the BEST description of Fisher I think possible. - JamesJM
