I don't see how it can be interpreted any other way than as a compliment to Tree and not a put-down aimed at the Rams qbs. What kind of coach goes into a press conference and rips the qbs just before the season starts?
Yes it was a compliment to Tree...he's actually saying this kid worked harder than even a qb, which is a big compliment.
