Another thing that weighed in his favor was his ability to run the read option. That does help in giving defenses pause; it's much harder for a DC to go crazy when they need to sweat containment. I am certain this is what the Eagles are thinking with Wentz, that as long as they're careful with it they can do like the Seahawks with Wilson or the Panthers with Newton and utilize the read option to check the rush a bit. The risk is going to be injuries, though, because Wentz does not shy from contact.
As to Goff, he might well bust. But I think writing him off now is ridiculous, and for fans of the team to do so saddens me. Give the kid some time and let's see how he looks when he gets comfortable in the offense. F the talking heads man.
