I think what people challenged was your assumption that the head coach is universally directly involved in qb development.
Ron Rivera was not the guy who developed Newton over the years. Pete Carroll is not directly and personally responsible for Wilson's development. Tomlin, Lewis, and Harbaugh do not take a hands-on approach to qb development. Etc.
