I talked to Nelson the following week after he sprained his knee. I asked him and he said the knee was feeling good. He was walking around
camp no problem.

Here is my theory. Nelson did enough in camp and in the Cowboy game to convince the coaches of his spot on the 53 man roster.
Much like Gurley, they did not want to risk injury to Spruce as he has a valuable set of hands. So, they saved him for the regular season.

I think Nelson is going to be the Rams Wes Welker.
