So what did you think of the 5 previous #1 overall QBs in their first year?
2015 - Winston
2012 - Luck
2011 - Newton
2010 - Bradford
2009 - Stafford
Do you think they looked as bad as Goff does?
Winston has done well. He's also struggled. Winston should be better this year.
Luck started well but he was heavily criticized in Indy by his OWN COACH and fans.
Newton?? Newton was no savior and he's been in the league for how long before he became a good QB?
Bradford? Really?
Stafford. He's done well but he's made a ton of mistakes as a starter. But he's much better now.
Why didn't you mention Marriota? Why didn't you mention Eli Manning? Why didn't you mention Peyton Manning? Why didn't you mention Elway?
They Manning brothers, both Super Bowl winners lost big time as rookies and only played because the teams decided to play them no matter what and
did not expect win with them as rookies. And they didn't
Elway I believe won 1 or 2 games as a rookie.
Marriota has struggled and his team has not won.
If you want to believe Goff is a bust after one pre-season then that is your right. We shall see where this goes.
Grits
I dont see anybody here who has already given up on Goff.
Disappointed about his slow start ? Yes.
Thinking he will be a bust ? No. Way too early.
However: The Problem with Goff is that the Rams have given up so much for him to move up. IMHO and many others view Goff never was worth that trade up.
Fisher and Snead said this Team is a QB away. Then they got out and traded up for Goff to get that QB.
They paid a kings ransom unlike the Teams who drafted those other QBs on the list. They just took them in their original draft Slots without giving up the farm.
The Rams are Close , at least Fisher and Snead want to make believe that.
But as it Looks now we will look the same in 2016 as we did in 2015, again a QB short and the Team not getting any younger. Matter of fact we lost some key guys over the offseason. A good case can be made that this Team is weaker on some key positions than last year with the losses in the secondary most glaring.
And the QB Situation does not look improved as was hoped for when we traded up for Goff.
IMHO Goff in the first place was not the QB to trade up for. Not for the Price we paid. And as it Looks now the Rams might have been helped more for 2016 and 2017 had they not traded up for him . Guys like Lynch and Prescott look much better than Goff though I am Aware of the different surroundings.
But it is not ALL surroundings if you ask me.
Go Rams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
