I think people operate under a couple different premises here. One is that Fisher is rational and exercises sound judgment when it comes to football matters. Another is that he's not and doesn't. I'm in the latter camp, so I expect the worst and hope for the best. The entire move to get Goff in the first place demonstrated the latter, so I have no reason to expect what follows with decisions regarding him to be any different.
If they don't start him in game one, it will show surprising restraint and a rare deferral to objective reality. But I'll likewise be surprised if they can keep that up for long.
