I think Mike Thomas is done, he just can't catch the ball at all.... Hopefully he can catch on with another team, but he's just not even worth putting on the practice squad, we have too many other young WR's who deserve a spot who can catch the ball.
Hemingway might make it past the first cuts, but he sure had a horrible game last night when he needed a good one. Same as Thomas, he had too many drops, one of which could have been game tying TD...not a good look last night for him...he might make it to PS.
Duke also might get the ax after that drop last night, but he might sneak on to PS.
Quick might have bought himself some time last night by catching everything thrown to him.
I comment on your post not being privy to what goes on in the team meetings or how any of these guys are blocking or grasping the playbook and how any of them are doing on special teams.
Have to agree with you on Thomas. If you are a WR you have to catch the ball. He has been consistently dropping the ball in camp and in the preseason games. Particularly when we have a lot of receivers battling for the last couple of spots his odds look very long to me.
Hemingway doesn't seem like he's high enough up the food chain to not produce more. My guess is practice squad as he has upside.
Not enough info on Duke. He's got measurables and promise, but does he have an NFL head? Does he know the plays? Can he block?
The thing about Quick is he can block. In an offense that relies on the run that is important. You can see his promise. Maybe being on the edge of being cut has provided him with additional motivation.
Right after the draft and even into training camp the vibe was more like the Rams somehow had an embarrassment of young promise - if not "riches" -- at WR. Cooper "should have gone" higher. Duke "has 1st-round talent." Thomas was a "steal."
Fisher obviously has a lot of love for Cooper, but from where I sit the only WR to have actually delivered on his hype is Spruce.
Being out of the action *should have* hurt Spruce's chances of making the 53, but instead his competition has stepped back, rather than stepped up.
So: Britt, Austin, Cooper, Spruce, Marquez... and STILL Quick, I think.
