but freedom of expression (or freedom not to express) is foundational to our liberties.
That's not an endorsement of the content of anyone's expression.
But once we start deciding whose expression is ok and whose isn't, how do you know yours won't be taken away?
As Guard says, however, the 49er's would also be free to say that they don't like that representing their team.
Apparently, they're ok with it.
