Rookies that play well?

I don't think they just "got lucky". I think the most accurate projection is of rookies shining in preseason, then making the roster and shining in regular season.

I'll say this though, RR: historically, we've seen incessantly flat performances in preseason by the starters, followed by 4 or 5 more games of the same. I'd like to see a change.
