Jeff Fisher on Tavon Austin's two speeds: 'One’s fast and the other is sleep'

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin has yet to breakout and have a monster season to this point in his career, yet the team is still incredibly excited about him and what he offers this offense. A large reason for that excitement has to do with his blazing fast speed and impressive playmaking ability.

Recently, head coach Jeff Fisher spoke about Austin, and more specifically his speed.

Via ESPN’s Steve Dilbeck:

‘He’s got two speeds,’ Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. ‘One’s fast and the other is sleep.’

All kidding aside, Austin’s speed is pretty unreal. He ran a 4.34 40-yard dash coming out of West Virginia. For Fisher, though, Austin’s talent goes far beyond just his head-turning speed.

‘A really smart player,’ Fisher said. ‘Very exciting, explosive player. Loves to play and compete.’

To this point in Austin’s career, he hasn’t topped 473 receiving yards in a single season yet but has shown an impressive dual-threat ability. That specifically shined through in 2015, when he combined for 907 rushing and receiving yards, with nine touchdowns.

The Rams front office is obviously high on the receiver as well, as they chose to pick up his fifth-year option, which is worth more than $12 million in 2017.
