That Goff 'coming in' and not being able to beat out Keenum doesn't bother me at all. It does. It doesn't make me panic, nothing even close to that... but it's certainly less than I was hoping for after all the accolades and the massive move up in the draft to get him. HOWEVER...
I don't know that that's the case... Goff could very well have beaten out Keenum and still not start... and I would think such a scenario nothing more than prudent on the Ram's part.
Nor do I think 'sitting' for a spell will hurt Goff... what I wonder is the timing of a such a 'sit' and when it could not 'hurt' but delay his progress... I'm a firm believer that you need to get out on that field and actually play with the big boys to truly 'learn'... flying a simulator is not the same as flying a plane.
Like everyone else on this board I am expecting Goff to suffer rookie failings... I'm not sure that 'rookie failings' from a QB with as much talent as Goff is supposed to possess is any 'worse' than what Keenum will provide, and that's no criticism of Keenum's work ethic or heart... he's earned my respect in that way. - JamesJM
