Care to explain further? What's absurd about it?
The only one that is remotely surprising to me is TJ being listed as 3rd team SS. And even that makes some sense given his off field issues this year and the time he has missed. It's probably a punishment of sorts.
Here's a relevant tweet today from Vinny, dz.

FYI on #Rams depth chart (released tonight or tomorrow) As it's been explained to me, best advice is to read very little into it.

According to Willie McGinnis, Groh said that Tavon has been misused and he's not just a gadget player. He compared him to Edleman and Weller. He also said that he has enough on offense.
Says Quick and Britt will be big part of offense...
That quote, 1st team reps, and the emphasis on Quick in the RZ tells me he's safe. Bank on it.
Yes, I had seen that quote, as well, dz.
This is a "fluid" time of year in terms of roster selection. And lots of people are saying lots of things.
Some of those things will even later prove to be true and accurate.
I think it's a little premature to use the "bank it" on most of the candidates this early in camp.
Particularly the WR's. There appears to be some serious talent there now at least 8 deep. And most, if not all of them, can contribute on ST, I believe. Cough, cough.
And especially before the first preseason game.
Does Britt contribute on STs? I don't think so and he's probably the 2nd safest among the WRs. It's actually not all that uncommon for vets to play less STs anyway. That will be a factor for the 5th or 6th WR; not 1st through 3rd.
I wouldn't put a coaches comments - Groh's or Fisher's - in the category of "lots of people are saying lots of things."
For instance, when Fisher says that Austin will be featured in the O and may have 100 receptions this year, that is telling. They may fall short in execution but it does give away their intent.
Likewise, when Groh makes that comment about Britt and Quick, it speaks of their intent. You don't intend to have a guy be a big part of your offense and then cut him 4 weeks later. Both of those guys are as safe as safe can be barring injury.
You really believe that Quick is as safe as Britt, dz?
I sure don't.
Hopefully, Quick will have an All World camp. That would be great.
But as of today, he's got his work cut out to win me over after 4 years of disappointment.
One thing is for sure. The next 4 weeks will sort this all out. May the best 6 WR's make the 53.
