It was always a foregone conclusion the Rams will be on the move quite a bit during the three seasons they’d play at the Coliseum while their new stadium in Inglewood is being built.

And it looks like that means an expected trip to China in 2018 moving closer and closer to reality.

According to a report in the Sports Business Daily, the Rams are expected to open their 2018 home schedule against the San Francisco 49ers in China.

Since March, the Rams have been linked to a game in China in 2018, but this is the first time an opponent and target date have been mentioned.

The report was characterized as “premature” by a Rams source, and NFL spokesmen Brian McCarthy wrote in an email to the Southern California News Group that “we have not announced the Rams’ opponent in the event we play a game there. We have said we are exploring playing a game there but nothing is definitive.”

The Rams are expected to play at least three international games between the 2016-2018 seasons while their Inglewood stadium is being built — all of which are home games — including an Oct 23 game this year against the New York Giants.
