After AD’s abrupt retirement, I have a question about Rams FA strategy this offseason…

Firstly, we know that AD told Rams about his retirement prior to FA, so at least Rams were free to pursue any FA strategy they wanted.

And yet they ignored every single opportunity to sign a DL player, much less a high quality one. Why is that?

We must assume one of the following:

Rams like their current DL roster.

Rams are confident that they can snag a quality DL rookie at one of their high picks.

Rams have their eye on either a trade target or a FA for the DL that they think could be adequate for this Shula D given other plans that they’ve strategized.

Rams have a plan to generate pass rush other than with an AD lite.

Or some combination of the above?

The fact that the Rams did not panic about AD.’s retirement and rush to deal with a defensive line replacement for him gives me some sense of comfort.

What do y’all think?

I speculated earlier this week that the Rams might value coverage over pass rush
