Namely, how important it is for a team to have a good QB. It’s priceless.
No disrespect intended toward either Wolford or Perkins, but DAMN! That was a jaw dropping 2nd half. I think the D was invigorated by seeing that Mayfield could keep us in the game. The ripple effects of Mayfield’s amazing play reached far and wide, imo.
If Mayfield can continue to play well, needn’t be out-of-this-world, just playing well in these remaining 4 games then there will be enticing opportunities for both Mayfield and the Rams.
If both player and team can think long term then this could be a marriage made in heaven.
Mayfield could scarcely be in a better place to develop and grow than in this McVay O. They seem perfect for each other.
But BM must be willing to be patient and accept the backup role until Stafford is ready to hang ‘em up. Ironically, that COULD be as soon as this offseason depending on what doctors say.
Anyway, when that day comes then Mayfield would be in the perfect place at the perfect time.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell savvy Ram fans the importance of having a seamless transition at QB when that time arrives.
I fervently hope for 2 things.
Firstly, that BM proves that this Raider game was not just a fluke. That he has 4 consecutive solid games, iow.
Secondly, that all parties see the wisdom of having BM as ‘backup’ waiting in the wings until Stafford retires.
