When the Los Angeles Rams head to Kansas City to face the Chiefs this weekend, they’ll be bigger underdogs than they’ve ever been with Sean McVay as their head coach. That’s not exactly surprising given the way the Rams’ season has gone through 10 games. They’re 3-7 and will be on the road against perhaps the best team in the NFL at one of the loudest stadiums in the country.
According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Chiefs are 14.5-point favorites against the Chiefs in Week 12. Previously, the most points the Rams got as underdogs with McVay was seven against the 49ers in Week 16, which they covered in a 34-31 loss.
The last time the Rams were this big of underdogs was in 2016 when the Seahawks were favored by 15 points in Week 15; the Rams lost, 24-3.
The 14.5-point spread is also the biggest of this week, four points more than the Dolphins-Texans game. As of now, the over/under is set at 44 points, which is certainly low for a Chiefs game.
Matthew Stafford’s status is still up in the air after he left Sunday’s game to be evaluated for a concussion. The Rams will likely have more info on his condition Monday or Tuesday, McVay said after the game, but if he can’t go, it would be either John Wolford or Bryce Perkins at QB against the Chiefs.
