Time is running out for the Rams to turn their season around and make a run at the playoffs. They’re 3-6 and have shown no signs of life the last three weeks, getting blown out by the 49ers and Cardinals, and coughing up a late lead to the Buccaneers.

They’re enduring one of the worst seasons ever by a defending Super Bowl champion and two more losses will likely make it almost impossible for them to make the postseason. Aaron Donald is never one to give up, but patience is running thin everywhere in the Rams’ building.

He says the team just has to keep playing in hopes that the outlook will improve.

“You just got to keep playing. Just keep playing and trying to find a way to win. That’s it,” he said Thursday.

Can things change?

“Just play. You just got to play,” he said. “There’s obviously a lot of things that aren’t going our way. Nobody wants to be in this position, but we’re here now. All we can do is keep playing.”

From offseason departures to a rash of injuries along the offensive line and at cornerback, just about everything that could go wrong for the Rams has gone wrong. Raheem Morris said Thursday that he’s “not in the excuse-making business,” but it’s been an extraordinarily tough season for Los Angeles, and some things are out of the team’s control.

Donald said very flatly that the Rams aren’t playing well enough as a team, which is the biggest problem.

“Yeah, it isn’t a good season,” Donald said. “Obviously, we aren’t getting it done, we aren’t playing good enough as a team, so obviously you want to fix those things and try to find a way to win some games and stack something, but the only thing you can do now is control what you can control and just play the game.”

Next up on the Rams’ schedule is New Orleans, who they will play on Sunday. If they can beat the Saints, they’ll improve to 4-6, ending their three-game losing streak. A loss, however, will drop them further behind and give them one of the worst records in football.
