The hits just keep coming for Los Angeles Rams rookie Kyren Williams. After missing time with a broken foot this summer, Williams will now be out up to six weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to Field Yates.
Williams injured his ankle in the first quarter of the season opener against the Bills and did not return. The injury occurred on his only special teams snap of the game, which was the Rams’ opening kickoff.
Brandon Powell got tackled into Williams’ right ankle on the return, a hit that looked painful for the rookie running back.
The Rams have a Week 7 bye, so Williams could conceivably return for Week 8 against the 49ers and only miss five more games. He’s the No. 3 back behind Darrell Henderson Jr. and Cam Akers, but he’ll likely go on injured reserve and be replaced by Jake Funk on the depth chart.

The Rams drafted Williams in the fifth round this year out of Notre Dame and he impressed the coaching staff so much in camp that he did not play at all in the preseason, despite being healthy for the final game.
