It was announced on Thursday that L.A. has been selected as one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. SoFi Stadium will play host to at least one match during the event in four years, which is the biggest World Cup in history.

The field will be expanded to 48 teams, with 80 total matches being played. That’s up from the usual field of 32 teams. The Rose Bowl hosted the World Cup final in 1994, as well as the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
