George Allen and McSnead similarities

April 15, 2022 05:47PM
I became a Rams fan when Allen was their head coach. I was around 12 years old then. I wasn't able to understand all the nuanced talk the tv commentators said about Allen trading draft picks but I could tell is was a little controversial. However, the Rams were winning consistently and Allen ended his pro career as having 2nd highest winning percentage, only behind Lombardi, (I think).

Fast forward to the McSnead era and it seems that they're doing much the same that Allen did. Allen did what McSnead are doing before they were born.

I think the only differences, off the top of my head, are that McSnead has identified the key positions and made more dramatic trades, and that they've gotten more benefit from their middle round draft picks.

The Rams have has some dark eras, and some glory years as well. I've always missed the Roman Gabriel years, but I'm loving, really enjoying, the McSnead era. It's a great time to be a Ram's fan.

I used to love complaining to my friends in Detroit about the Rams losing a game or two. They'd just look at me and their expression would say, "shut the hell up!, we've got the Lions."
