Jalen Ramsey gives Rams safeties a shoutout on Twitter, prays they can stay healthy

Injuries have ravaged the Los Angeles Rams’ safety group in the last two years. John Johnson missed most of the 2019 season, and then last year, both Taylor Rapp and Terrell Burgess missed significant time. Johnson stayed healthy in 2020, but fellow starter Jordan Fuller missed four games with a shoulder injury.

Heading into this season, Johnson is now a member of the Browns, but the Rams still have plenty of talent at safety with Fuller, Burgess, Rapp and Nick Scott. The team shared a photo of the four safeties on Twitter and Jalen Ramsey gave them a shoutout, calling them some of his favorite teammates and praying that they will stay healthy this year.

Fuller is expected to be one of the starters at safety again after a terrific rookie season. The former sixth-round pick shocked everyone last year when he was a Week 1 starter, playing at a high level all season long.

The other spot will likely go to either Burgess or Rapp, though Scott showed potential last year when injuries decimated the safety group. All four players should see playing time even if everyone stays healthy, given how often the Rams use nickel and dime packages.

The losses of Johnson and Troy Hill shouldn’t be overlooked, but the Rams still have a great secondary led by Ramsey, Darious Williams and Fuller.
