Yeah, Jourdan alludes to this. I'd say that her Athletic pieces and now her podcast seem to offer the most insight into what was going on behind the scenes. Correct or incorrect, it seems that McVay from the sense she gets from people in the building bent over backwards to try to make it work with Goff and just gave up. He was "okay" with changing the offense for Goff but absolutely lost it over the interceptions. She says that it wasn't that he had them (which may be why looking at interceptions as a stat might be misleading) but McVay was absolutely livid about the decision making that lead to the interceptions.

She's a thoughtful reporter and makes a good point that she holds both these ideas as not mutually exclusive: it was a mistake to sign Goff to the extension when they did. It would have also been a mistake to keep this marriage going.

And another note that I don't think anyone has mentioned: Sure, there's a possibility that Goff can go to another offense where someone allows him to play in something that utilizes his talents better. It's not Detroit. What chance Goff had of becoming a consistently top 15 QB is gone now. Detroit will destroy any chance of that. And if you're a Goff fan, that sucks.
