OK...so I saw the other thread highlighting his game against LSU (clearly the best team Alabama played all year) and came away...unimpressed.
But I didn't want to judge the guy (or the pick) based off of one game, so I went looking for another game highlighting him against good SEC talent. I found this game against in-state rival Auburn.
Now, just as I wasn't going to judge the guy off of one game, I won't do so after watching two either. With that said, though, I'm not quite sure what people see in him to suggest that we got a "steal" by selecting him in the 3rd round.
After watching his snaps in the two games, I'm wondering if he was either: A) injured; and/or, B ) tired (since both games occurred towards the end of the season.
▪︎I don't see, particularly, an explosive player;
▪︎I don't see a player that created problems for the offense or the OT's (regardless of where he lined up); and, most troubling to me,
▪︎I saw "motor" issues with him. If the play was run away from him, Alabama was essentially playing with only 10 players on defense as Lewis was either half-ass in pursuit (or declined to pursue at all).
I'm not saying that the guy is a stiff, but unless this guy was hurt, I don't see an impact player either who was just overlooked due to prior injuries.
Am I off-base here?
