This isn't downplaying Cooks importance. But Reynolds can take Cooks place with little drop off. His size, good route running and hands, and consistency is notable, and he seems to be able to get open for intermediate to longer routes.
Losing Kupp is much more problematic; with Woods being second because he can run any route of any distance.
But let's not be writing off Cooks just yet. Maybe he's back for Pittsburgh; maybe he misses a couple of games. None of us know. Right now he's asymptomatic. There used to be a head injury called "getting your bell rung". It means a player was knocked dingy, but it didn't go as far as a medically defined concussion. It's just that with all the attention being payed to brain injuries (rightfully so), they are being super cautious.
I don't know the outcome. But to assume Cooks is lost for the year or career is simply not in evidence. Sure hope it doesn't turn out that way.
