In the end, that's a big part of how I'll be evaluating our roster for 2019.
Right now, here are the putative new starters:
LG: Joe Noteboom (replacing Rodger Saffold)
C: Brian Allen (replacing John Sullivan)
DL: John Franklin-Myers (replacing Ndamukong Suh)*
ILB: Micah Kiser (replacing Mark Barron)
FS: Eric Weddle (replacing Lamarcus Joyner)
I have an asterisk next to the DL spot because, in a sense, one could argue that Michael Brockers would be replacing Suh at the NT spot while JFM slides into the DE spot that Brockers played last year.
Of those changes, I'd say you have one upgrade (FS) and a bunch of question marks.
I also think that the Rams' first pick in this year's draft could prove to be a starter (i.e. an EDGE who would supplant Samson Ebukam, an OL who could supplant Austin Blythe potentially, or a starter on the DL).
Overall, I think the core is intact and we're banking on our ability to develop players. That leads to some uncertainty, but its also the way many successful teams (i.e. the Patriots) have been able to sustain success.
