We're in kind of a dead period right now for the NFL. So it's no wonder such speculative stuff like the Giants possibly trading OBJ gets the headlines.
We hear standard Owner/GM words like "he's on the team right now", and assume it means that the player is on his way out of town. Not so.
The Giants have a very good QB, even if he is past his prime. They have a terrific play making TE about to emerge and probably the best WR in the game in OBJ. And just because OBJ makes a lot of noise and is on his last year of his rookie contract, the Giants would seriously consider trading him? And then the Giants say "sure, for two fist round picks". I'm not sure a WR has ever drawn that much in trade compensation and the Giants know that, which is why they set the bar at that level. And if the Giants get the idea that someone would actually do that, they'll want the pot sweetened a bit more because they have NO intention of trading him. And they shouldn't.
As for the Rams; finally some writers are getting it and wondering out loud how the heck the Rams could ever fit OBJ under their cap. Not to mention the thought of giving up major draft picks to get him. And even more, does he really bring to the O what the Rams need? Is he really a fit? Doubtful.
I for one would love to hear the words that the Rams have tabled such talk until after the draft. Meaning; we've decided no on OBJ.
