I feel about the possibility of Suh joining the Rams the same way as I did about Watkins except that Suh is a great player and Watkins is not.
Suh would be a significant addition to the Rams D that would make the Rams awfully hard to play. BUT.......not to the point that you mess up your salary cap and make it difficult to sign Goff, Gurley, AD and other players that you need to round out a strong roster.
I don't know what the number is. But just like with Watkins, I have little doubt that the Rams do. And they'll stick to it.
And regardless of how much cap space the Titans might currently have, I doubt they'd be willing to spend wildly on Suh if that's what it took to get him. Let's face it, if the Titans simply opened their bank account to Suh and offered him a huge number that they knew probably couldn't be matched (again, similar to what happened with Sammy) this would be all over by now.
My gut tells me that the Rams and Titans aren't that far apart on their estimation of what they'd be willing to pay for Suh, although from what I've read the Titans might be able to offer a much bigger number upfront for year 1. But do the Titans believe they are that close to being a Superbowl team.....that the Superbowl is a serious possibility for 2018....that they would take this step at a huge cost?
I think if the Rams didn't believe that they were ready to make that jump to the Superbowl, they wouldn't even consider Suh. But even then, there is a limit. I suspect that the Titans have a similar mindset and are not willing to go too high (whatever too high might be).
