I find that I dislike hyperbole from the media as much as I disliked their ridicule.

Oh, that silly media. What a fickle bunch.

A few months ago, they were happy to describe the Rams in terms of ridicule, with few offering words of hope. It was painful for optimists such as myself to read, as nobody likes their team to be ridiculed.

Now, half a season later, the media has done a 180. Torry Holt thinks this is the GSOT, Volume 2. NFL.com has the Rams at #2 in the power rankings. Peter King predicts a Super Bowl win.

You might think I'm enjoying this but... not so much.

Two reasons:

1. I'm not interested in weather reports regarding the current weather. I can look out the window too.
For those in the media now putting the Rams on a pedestal, I ask: where were you in August? Anyone can look at the Rams NOW, with a 6-2 record, division lead, and the highest points/game average in the NFL, and declare them contenders. Wow! Way to go out on a limb, there, guys! I look to the media for insight, but it seems that all I get is Captain Obvious material.

2. Its too soon!
You know why the GSOT Rams are remembered in history? Because they won the freakin' Super Bowl. If all they did was produce at a record pace for a half a season, or even a full season, before tanking in the playoffs, they'd be a footnote at best. I am loving the ride that the 2017 Rams are taking us on. I'm wearing my Rams gear with my head held high. I'm dreaming of a deep playoff run. But I'm not counting my chickens yet. Its just too soon. And the one thing I can absolutely guarantee you is that if things go South the media will drop the Rams just as quickly as they boarded the bandwagon.

So, let's celebrate the Rams success together as Rams fans. We're the ones who had hope from Day 1. We don't need the media to tell us how to feel about this team.
