Either one thinks that Snead/McVay know what they're doing, or not...

April 28, 2017 08:39PM
I'm a little surprised by some of the negative reactions that I've been reading tonight. I do NOT share the pessimism of some.

I trust McVay on O matters and O player selection.

I trust Wade on D matters and D player selection.

I trust Snead to find the types of players that McVay has described and stack the board accordingly.

I think that they have a plan and are making shrewd decisions such as avoiding a foolish trade up and seizing on a trade down opportunity.

They have avoided the pitfalls of falling in love with certain players, instead objectively rating the prospects. I simply cannot overstate the importance of that.

Everett was clearly a favorite of McVay. Maybe not of every pundit and draft guru, much less more casual fans that only recognize a handful of names anyway. But the TE whisperer that does this for a living and has proven to be very good at identifying and developing TE's loves Everett. I think it would be foolish to already claim that a layman knows better than the respected Pro coach on TE matters. Think about it...

Cooper Kupp is gonna be a fan favorite. Trust me on this. Football smart, detail oriented, quick learner, amazing work ethic, sky high production results. The anti Quick or anti Tavon. His college production was phenomenal. Stood out at Senior Bowl. Blew his interviewers away. I LOVE this kid and I love this pick. The more you learn about him, the more you will love him, too.

John Johnson? I knew nothing about him before the pick. I'm not a draft guru. Most people reading this aren't, either. From what I've already learned, I can see where he can be productive in our secondary in his rookie season. Gonna trust Wade and S&F on this pick. He was a free roll anyway due to the trade down. Just sayin'.

So, first 3 picks are in the book.

We needed the following:

TE-check.
WR-check
CB or S-check

Still need the following:

C
LB
CB

Maybe some depth at ER or ILB. Perhaps still another WR or CB?

We have the following:

2-4ths
2-6ths
7th

Plus UDFA scrambling starts Saturday night.

And there's always other team late cuts to fill in any remaining holes.

Don't know about you, but I'm seeing a plan being implemented here, y'all. From FA and well into this draft.

I'm gonna sleep like a baby tonight and enjoy the heck out of tomorrow while I watch the grown ups in this FO wheel and deal.
