THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- As if relocating an entire franchise weren't enough, the Los Angeles Rams play a regular-season schedule that forces them to fly 35,952 miles this season, by far the most in the NFL.
Nearly a third of that will be absorbed on this next trip.
The Rams will next be flying from L.A. to Detroit to London and back to L.A. again, a trek of roughly 11,500 miles that begins late Friday afternoon and ends a couple of Mondays later, on Oct. 24.

"It’s a challenge," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. "It’s a two-step challenge. First step is Detroit, second step is at London against a good football team with the Giants. We haven’t scratched the surface with the Giants right now. It’s all about Detroit. This will be our first experience traveling three time zones, and kicking the ball off at 10 a.m. our time [PT]. That in itself is a challenge. The statistics over the last five years, they don’t reflect a great deal of success when the West Coast teams are playing the 1 o'clock [ET] games on the East coast."
