I have to think that the Rams don't want to go into next season with Puka Nacua as the most experienced receiver on the team. Here's a brief overview of the upcoming receivers in FA:
1. Tee Higgins - not much needs to be said. Perfect fit as a big bodied X receiver. Fits what the Rams were pursuing last year in Mike Williams. Going to cost big money (rumor is 25 million a year or more). Probably will miss games.
2. Steffon Diggs - competitive, still has some juice in the tank. Wins at all levels of the field. Has some diva to him. Coming off an ACL injury. Could be our Odell Beckham as a reclamation project with a high ceiling. Risky being 31 and coming off of an ACL injury though.
3. Amari Cooper - Veteran and former #1 receiver. Not producing with Josh Allen so he's a risky get with a lower ceiling.
4. Chris Godwin - had no interest in him prior because he's kind of a Kupp clone. Seems like an easy fit now. History of lower leg injuries.
5. Hollywood Brown - small, but well built speed demon. Seems to be dinged up a lot but when healthy he's a versatile speed threat (think Tutu if he were bigger and could be used in more areas of the field).
6. DeAndre Hopkins - best years are way behind him. But he can still play. Dunno if there's much difference between him and Kupp in terms of ceiling.
7. Dionte Johnson - supremely talented. He's been a headache for every team he's been on. If he's added for his ceiling he'd definitely need insurance policies on the depth chart.
8. Darius Slayton - had to save my guy for last. All of these free agents come with risks, so if you want to get a lighter version of everything the Rams need, this is the guy. I believe he's 28 (good age), runs fast , is 6'1, and is seen by most giants players and fans as a leader and team guy. Won't break the bank either. His ceiling is the question. Is he Robert Woods (below average numbers on the bills but blows up on the Rams) or is 700 yards legitimately his ceiling?
