"The "Bull Elephant" backfield were the American football running backs of the 1950s Los Angeles Rams. The line consisted of Dick Hoerner, Paul "Tank" Younger and "Deacon" Dan Towler. This line helped name the 1951 Rams as the fourth best offense in the history of the NFL and the number one best offense in the history of the NFL for the 1950 Rams by Sports Central.[1]"
What I remember most was the 1951 Championship game at the Coliseum. If I recall it was one, if not THE, first nationally broadcast professional football game. I sat on the 20 yd line , Ram side, right where Van Brocklin let go of the 70 yd td to Tom Fears. to win it.
Rams were the team most responsible for opening up the game of pro football allowing it to become what it is today.
