Ever since Gurley, Snead has taken a different approach to filling out a roster and how players are acquired.
NEVER again will Snead award a RB with a big 2nd contract. I don't care if he's the 2nd coming of Jim Brown. And, he clearly (no doubt in conjunction with McVay) believes that if you can get several RBs of the same mold, then when (not if) a RB goes down, he's plug and play into the same game plan.
NEVER again will Snead pay a large 2nd contract to a front 7 D player with known chronic knee problems. Too darn risky.
And, rather than look at late 3rd day draft picks and UDFAs as roster fodder, he believes you can find gems every year that can become anywhere from good contributors, to solid players, to an occasional star.
Even how they evaluate players has changed to use different metrics than has been typically used.
