agree, Johnson is far from a lock

Maybe he does make it as the bottom of the roster WR6. But he barely played in 2023 and a few nice comments the first several days of camp can't carry that much weight.. He is a guy that I would think gets a ton of preseason reps. As he should. But he's an absolute bubble player, not their WR4 in my opinion...

I've never been a big Atwell fan but he showed up in spots last year and is fine as a WR4 while they keep working to develop Whittington (who should also see extensive preseason reps).

Atwell's career got off to a terrible start- 2 catches in his first 1.5 seasons. But he has 55 catches and 3 TD in his last 23 games played.

I think, if anything, Atwell is a possible trade candidate in October. If they see an opportunity to add something else before the deadline he could be a chip included in the offer. Just a thought.

Rams save about $1.05M in cap if Johnson is released before the season. $1.47M if Atwell was (and a fraction of that if traded midseason).
