First, both teams clearly benefited from this trade, so we’re down to hair-splitting over projections for the future.
Second, the author ignores that Stafford is a better fit for McVay than Goff was AND that Stafford has another 2-3 years to win more SB’s with Rams. Something that I think is a distinct possibility.
Third, while Brad Holmes is a terrific GM, the HC Campbell is flawed. His stupid and stubborn decisions probably cost Lions a shot at a SB appearance. Rams have no such problem. McVay is very, very good and apparently getting better each year.
Fourth, most informed observers consider Stafford a better straight up QB than Goff despite his age.
So, the final judgement of just which team got the best of this trade is yet to be determined. Like I said, at this point it looks like a great trade for both teams.
