The Los Angeles Rams have made another move in the running back department, signing former Eagles veteran RB Boston Scott to a one-year deal, according ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

LA is already pretty deep at the position, currently boasting the NFL’s third leading rusher from 2023 Kyren Williams. The Rams also selected Michigan RB Blake Corum in the third round of the NFL draft over the weekend, and still have last year’s sixth round pick Zach Evans, as well as Ronnie Rivers on the roster too.

Scott has played the majority of his career in Philadelphia, making a name for himself as a solid 3rd down back in both the pass and run game. The Duel threat back played in 83 games for the Eagles, 9th-most in franchise history, with 12 starts.

In a reserve role over the last six years, Scott amassed 1,295 rushing yards, with 16 touchdowns and an average of 4.3 yards per carry. He also had 71 receptions and 566 receiving yards. Scott saw his role diminished in favor of Kenny Gainwell last season, and was not resigned by Philly, leading his opportunity to now join the Rams.

It will remain to be seen what this could mean for Zach Evans and Ronnie Rivers, who were already battling for the third back position, and will now have a proven veteran talent added to the competition. On paper, this looks to be a strong running back group, and behind this newly upgraded offensive line, the run game could prove to be the team’s biggest strength heading into the 2024 season.
