Blinkscout Day 3 Preview

April 27, 2024 05:15AM
Might make this part of my yearly traditions ..

First pick ... Jared Verse ... can't help but think we got lucky. Atlanta taking Pennix was a little bonkers. But that didn't just open up one "plus" pick, it gave us a combo bonus with

Second pick Braden Fiske. I was curious as to the trade up until I saw the run on DTs. Those two working with Kobie and Byron from last year is just a great nucleus to have ...

Also note ... all four of those guys are transfers ... smaller school to bigger school .... 3/4 from D1, Fiske from WMU. So you have hard workers used to adjusting to new environments and levels of play.

Third pick, Corum. This is a leadership and morale pick. Not that he's not a beast on the field ... he is. But, hearing stories watching Michigan games, the kid is driven and completely team oriented. What I like best? He's going to be given way less reps and have fresh legs. For us, it's a 20 game season, and no RB except maybe Henry can make that happen... and he's obviously an alien.
On paper right now, we have the best interior O line in football IMO. We're built to break spirits. Corum has a mindset and attitude that is contagious, and honestly, I was surprised he was still on the board. Is he going to have breakaway runs? No. But will he have explosives (20+)? Absolutely, just takes one guy not wrapping up.

Fourth pick ... Kinchens. the difference is INTs. That's why he stands out. We don't have that on our team right now. It's what made him a preseason 1st rounder. Miami had a rough year and he was still taking the ball away. He cleaned his 40 up a bit at his pro day, dropping it to 4.56, which is plenty good. Alol American in 22, All ACC in 23' ...
