For me I think the top 2 Edges were Latu then Verse. Nothing against Turner, I just think for the Rams those first two fit better. The only problem with Latu is the neck thing. It may never be a problem, but it cannot be dismissed. Both have high floors and high ceilings. They are lunch pail guys that bring it every down from the 1st to the last snap.
Looking around at what guys that have played the game, coached the game, professionally scouted the game say I see the same words over and over: Grown man. Violent. Explosive. Sets an edge you just don't get around. Changes the LOS. Loves the game. High character. No red flags.
I thought the Rams would have 1 of the top 3 Edge Rusher available because I also thought 6 QBs would go before pick 19, pushing some very good players down a bit.
I would have been disenchanted with anything but a Defensive player, and the obvious needs for the Rams are Edge first, DT second, and ILB 3rd.
To fill the Edge with this good of player by standing pat at 19, and especially if the Rams really did try to move up but failed, may be a blessing in disguise.
They now have 2 quality young Edge rushers and an explosive DT in Turner.
Let's see if they can get a really good DT in the 2nd round. I think that is what they will target, but I wouldn't be surprised if they took an ILB or a CB.
