I said this when it was announced Shelton was leaving and Avila was taking over.
Avila will be a stronger, more dominant physical presence. But..... Shelton has played Center in the NFL for a few years and has learned the playbook from the Oline's viewpoint, and has a lot of experience identifying what the D is doing and getting the oline set.
So, all Kupp is saying is to be patient. Avila becoming a guy who can do it all at Center won't happen overnight. And, other players will contribute a little more, and Stafford will probably at first be telling the Oline what he wants to a greater degree than he had to with Shelton.
It'll be good.
