The Dallas Cowboys have been in need of running back help since losing Tony Pollard in free agency and they’ve added some depth in the form of a former Los Angeles Ram. The Cowboys announced on Tuesday that they’ve signed Royce Freeman, who spent last season with the Rams.

Freeman played 14 games last season, rushing for 319 yards and two touchdowns on 77 attempts. He helped fill in when Kyren Williams was injured, averaging a fairly healthy 4.1 yards per carry.

Freeman came into the NFL as a third-round pick in 2018, spending the first three years of his career with the Broncos. He’s only started nine games in the NFL but he’s expected to be part of the Cowboys’ backfield next season.

The Rams opted not to re-sign him, instead tendering Ronnie Rivers as an exclusive rights free agent.
