gives the impression that they inadvertently did this. They made a mistake, forgot what they were to address. When someone paints themselves into a corner they forgot to allow themselves a way out IMO. I still think they have really thought things through, they knew well before hand about AD...it's been primary on their mind IMO. They IMO looked at what was/is available, looked at those costs, compared that to what's in the draft and who will be in their range and those costs.
They IMO shored up the O-Line via FA and those costs, addressed the secondary FA and those costs leaving the draft for the address of the front 7 and their usual dip into O skill spots. Doing these things in this manner shows a thought process which to me doesn't show me that they have painted themselves onto a corner, they have IMO planned it out this way.
IMO it makes it all cost effective. They have put their cap space into the offense, and will address the defense cheaper by way of the draft. This can only work of course as long as those picks hit for the most part, like last years dive into the defense. They have a defense that has a lot of rookie contracts giving them good leeway to put money into other areas, much like many teams do using their QB rookie contract to be able to spend bigger in other areas.
