The LA Rams defense is believed to prioritize pass rushers for the 2024 NFL season. But we know the team suffered a huge setback in getting after the quarterback with the surprising and sudden announcement of All-Pro DT Aaron Donald's retirement. If finding ways to get after the quarterback wasn't tough enough before he retired, the task is nearly impossible now.

The Rams are up against it.

But the team has two ways to defend the pass effectively. The most obvious way is to sack the quarterback before the ball leaves his hands. The other, one not discussed, is to deny the football from ever reaching the receiver's hands.

So far, the front office seems to subtly but decisively improving the secondary. The team has already added DB Darious Williams, one of the best coverage cornerbacks in the 2024 NFL Free Agency market. The team followed that up by adding hard-hitting top safety Kamren Curl.

And it appears that the Rams are not done just yet.

Much like DB Ahkello Witherspoon in 2023, former Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White suffered an injury that shut him down last season. In White's case, he suffered an Achilles Tendon injury in October 2023. But unlike the case of Witherspoon, White has already proven his worth, a two-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro.

It appears that the Rams are betting on him returning to All-Pro form.

I believe that they are onto something.

White has never had a season without an interception. In seven NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills, he has recorded 18 interceptions, and broken up 68 passes. Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 192 pounds, White is a solid size to defend NFL passes. In his NFL career, quarterbacks have done no better than completing 56.9 percent of passes thrown at his target.

Of course, there is some risk with White. He has suited up for just 10 games in the past two seasons. That has translated into 490 defensive snaps for 2022 and 2023 combined.

But the Rams have to take risks now. And Tre'Davious White could be an incredible home run in this secondary. If he passes his medicals, I believe that the Rams will sign him then and there. With a new secondary boasting Tre'Davious White, Darious WIlliams, and Kamren Curl as additions, I believe that the Rams defense will not only be as good as 2023. It may be better.
