Hmmm...

The Los Angeles Rams got a lot of flack for their salary cap issues over the past few years, so much so that Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said last year "We're trying to work our way out so that we don't have just a tear-down." Well, fast forward to this week, and the Bills have been doing exactly what their GM claimed they didn't want to do.

Yes, the Rams were very much a team that didn't seem to worry too much about the future and wanted to focus on the now but it paid off for them. They won Super Bowl LVI and while they did have a Super Bowl hangover the following year, they bounced back and made the playoffs this past season. They'll own their first-round pick for the first time since 2016 and have over $40 million in cap space.

On the other side of the coin, the Bills are in the hole in cap space, sitting approximately $9 million in the red, as of this writing. They were in a much worse position earlier this week but parted ways with Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, and Tre'Davious White to clear some cap space.

Bills wanted to avoid being like Rams but now find themselves in worse situation

While the Rams weren't in an ideal situation for quite some time, they got a Super Bowl out of it, which is more than the Bills can say. They're also right back in a promising situation and have spending money and draft picks to play around with this offseason.

Saying that you want to avoid being like the Rams is also an interesting take because they've been able to do what a lot of other teams haven't, which is winning a Super Bowl and continuing to stay relevant. Sure, they had the down year in 2022 but that was largely in part to injuries (especially to Matthew Stafford) and then bounced back this past year and got into the postseason. If having one bad year after winning a Super Bowl is considered to be a bad thing, a lot of teams would gladly sign up to go through that.

The Los Angeles Rams might have put themselves in a tough spot but they got a Super Bowl out of it. The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, have yet to get to the Super Bowl in recent years and haven't made the AFC title game since the 2020 season.

It's safe to say that most people would rather be the Rams if given the choice between them and the Bills.
